Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Summer Arts Festival was established in 2000 with funds from a Tools for Transformation proposal and endowments from the Kreilsheimer Foundation and Donald Peterson, retired chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Company. The annual festival was held each summer on the University of Washington campus between 2000 and 2003 before funding issues prompted the demise of the festival in September 2003. The Festival offered faculty and students in Art, Dance, Drama, and Music an opportunity for collaboration between their respective departments in the College of Arts and Sciences and the larger community through four days of performances, readings, lectures, and exhibitions. Hannah Wiley, a professor and former director of the Dance program, served as the director of the Summer Arts Festival.
