Lawrence Timbers was a conservative Seattle publisher and editor who served as the chair of the Anti-Subversive Committee of the Washington State American Legion. He was also active in the organizations Americans for America, For America, and For Economic Freedom. He edited two local Seattle papers, “Timber” and “Washington Summary”.

This collection was received in multiple accessions. Lawrence Timbers donated portions of this collection to the Washington State University Libraries in 1980, 1982, and 1984 (MS.1980.16, MS.1982.16, and MS.1984.29). Rich Timbers donated a portion of this collection in 1982 (MS.1982.07). G. Timbers donated a portion of this collection in 1986 (MS.1986.43). The Humanities and Social Sciences department of the WSU Libraries transferred materials to Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections (MASC) in 2001 (MS.2001.03). MASC does not have acquisition information for accessions MS.1977.04, MS.1978.45, and MS.2010.19.
