Scope and Content: Tape recorded interview conducted by Karyl Winn and J. Schrieber on 25 Feb 1971.

Interview covers period 1900-1949. Born in 1889 near Vilna, Mrs. Ringold learned and practiced the needle trade at an early age. She came to New York in 1907 to be with her brother. She describes the effects of Unionization on working conditions in New York's needle trade. Approximately seven years later she moved to Seattle and married Morris Ringold. They lived in Aberdeen for several years, returning to Seattle when the depression forced their furniture business into bankruptcy.

Mrs. Ringold shortly recounts her unhappy days in Aberdeen referring to the lack of Jewish education and "life" for her children. Her memberships and activities in Seattle organizations such as the Workmen's Circle, Sons of Israel, Hebrew School PTA, and Herzl Synagogue are discussed.

This recording is good because of its overview of Jewish life in Seattle and Aberdeen. Although it duplicates most of the information on the other 2 tapes, it is of better recording quality and easily understood. Mrs. Ringold seems less sure of her recollections than on the previous tapes, but she does mention the families involved in raising money and building the first Synagogue in Aberdeen.
