Political journalist. George Arthur was a University of Washington student activist in Students For A Democratic Society, a University of Washington "Daily" correspondent, and staff member of the "Seattle Flag" in the late 1960's.

George Arthur was rock-music critic for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer from 1976-1981. While a student at the University of Washington he began work for Helix, an underground Seattle newspaper focused on music and counterculture. He passed away January 7, 1994.

Political ephemera and collected underground newspapers reflecting Arthur's activities in Students for a Democratic Society and as correspondent for the University of Washington Daily and staff member of the Seattle Flag. Includes material on the Communist Party, Fair Play for Cuba Committee, Liberation News Service, Progressive Labor Party, Socialist Workers Party, Technocracy, Young Socialist Alliance, and Young Socialist Forum. Persons represented include John Levin, Ed Morman, and John Severn. Also contains his self-published history of Helix, an underground Seattle newspaper, titled "Ask Any Fringe"; photos of George; clippings and documents related to his death
