Scope and Content: Recorded interviews with early settlers on the Olympic Peninsula conducted by Jerry Russell, a reporter probably on the Port Angeles "Evening News," with Guy Lashure on 4-14-62 (tape 1 ) and Lester Northrup on 3-31-1962 (tapes 2 & 3).

Scope and Content: Research files, writings of others, taped interviews, maps, tape-recorded interveiws, maps.

Acquainted with early families of the Olympic Peninsula, Russell and his wife began interviewing and writing about them from 1956 into the 1960s. Russell regards his interviews with Captain Billy Thornton of the Puget Sound Navigation Company as the best in the collection. These do not document the Olympic Peninsula. The Thornton tapes are in Box 4.
