Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Burton L. Beegle, (1892-1960) was an ordained minister of the Free Methodist Church of the Washington Conference. He joined the Seattle Pacific College mathematics faculty in 1917. In 1922, he and his family moved to Panama to serve as missionaries, where they remained for four years. He resumed teaching mathematics at SPC in 1926. Along with teaching, Beegle served as Registrar, 1939-1942, and Dean of the College, 1942-1947. He was also an early athletic director, head of the mathematics department and was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Science by SPC in 1957. He retired that same year.

A biography of of Dr. Burton Beegle, "Life of Minimum Regrets," by Rachel M. Beegle was published by King's Press of Seattle in 1961 and is available in the Seattle Pacific University Library.
