Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Arthur R. Kirkham (1897-1981) was a longtime radio newscaster for KOIN in Portland, Oregon. He started at the station in 1928. In 1935, he became the station's public relations director. In 1953, he moved to KOIN TV. He served on the Portland Chamber of Commerce from 1941 until 1956, was the director of the Oregon Museum Foundation, and was an avid conservationist.

Collection includes scrapbooks, 2 volumes, regarding Arthur R. Kirkham's radio career; correspondence and miscellaneous personal papers, circa 1917-1981; broadside, "Citizen of the Week"; diaries, 2 volumes, 1917-1918, of his experiences in France during World War I; diaries, 1 volume, 1919-1922, of his time at Oregon Agricultural College; diary, 1 volume, 1937, regarding a trans-continental train trip; a book, "This and That," by Kirkham, regarding his radio career; and maps and other documents relating to the Oregon Trail.
