Summary
Consists of 101 color and black and white images of the adventures of three Minnesota young women working in Yellowstone National Park in the summer of 1951. Some of the images are commercially produced and some are personal snapshots. The album includes written narration. Images inside the park are of Old Faithful Lodge, Tower Falls, and the upper and lower Yellowstone Falls. Pictures from outside the park include West Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Shoshone Dam, the Buffalo Bill statue in Cody, Wyoming, and the Beartooth Highway Summit.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Two of the three young women in the albums were probably sisters, Millie and Mary Lou Bettis. Milli[e] and Mary Lou Bettis attended Milaca High School in Milaca Minnesota. Mary Lous Bettis graduated in 1945 from Milaca Minnesota High School and Millie in 1949. Mary Lou worked in California for five years and later attended the Mankato Teachers College. Millie Bettis attended Hamline University in Saint Paul. The third young woman, the author, is not identified, but she was also from Minnesota.
