Biographical NoteReturn to Top
John Rhoades was born in Milford, Otsego County, New York on August 10th, 1820. Rhoades was a sargent in the 1st Ohio Regiment during the Mexican War, 1846-47. He graduated from the Syracuse Medical College, 1855. He was elected Captain, Company A, 2nd Regiment, 3rd. Brigade, division of the Ohio Reserves, 1861, during the Civil War. He migrated to Snohomish Co., Washington Territory. His wife was Alice Brown.

Also includes family papers of the Brown, Fenderson and Rhoades family, biographical sketch of John Rhoades (Sr.), teacher's certificates of Linnie Fenderson, his son's (John Fremont) wife, certificate of service of Horace Fenderson in the Civil War, family record of births and deaths of the Brown family.
