Artist (Oil painting) Fine arts degree form UW. Degrees in Political Science and Political Economy from Univ. of Texas. Born Nov. 20, 1947 in New York. Lived in South Africa until age 27. Married after two years of college. Emigrated to Dallas, Texas and returned to school. Divorced in Graduate School. Married John Friedmann in Seattle in 1990. Uses Georgette as professional name. In private life uses the name Madelaine Friedmann.

Tape recorded interview covering the years 1947-2001, taken on April 26, 2001; transcript, photograph, postcards, art brochures, guide, and clippings
Madelaine describes her early life in South Africa where she lived until age 27. She talks about her emigration to the United States with her husband and three children, her life in Texas, studying Political Science, and her subsequent divorce. She describes her work in environmental consulting, moving to Seattle in 1981, and running a consulting business for 12 years. Madelaine talks about becoming an artist following her marriage to John Friedmann, and obtaining a degree in painting from the University of Washington. She describes her art projects and themes in her art, such as apartheid in South Africa.
