Summary
The SOCOTWA (South Cottonwood Ward) collection (1948-2003) consists of materials reflecting the land and river activities sponsored by SOCOTWA, a non-profit organzation. Specializing in river rafting, SOCOTWA originated with the Eagles Club of the South Cottonwood Ward in Salt Lake City around 1948. Scouts were taken on river trips and to places of interest around Utah. Popularity of these trips by scouts and others expanded the operation of SOCOTWA and it became a full-fledged corporation in 1953. The collection includes correspondence, maps, organization information, trip logs and diaries, announcements, itineraries, and writings.
