Biographical NoteReturn to Top
James S. Garrick was born on July 21, 1868 in Lerwick, Scotland. He resided in Lerwick and Gulberwick, Scotland before emigrating to American in 1890. He went to Montana, where he married Catherine O’Brien. Sometime before 1903 they moved to Seattle, WA. They had six children: Laurence, Katherine (donor of the collection), Winifred, Isabella, James, and Thomas. Garrick worked in real estate and was not a professional photographer. The 1920 census lists the family living at 10023 62nd Avenue South in Seattle, WA. He passed away on June 26, 1947.

Photographs in 3 albums taken by James S. Garrick (father of donor) between 1910-1925, primarily of the Leschi area. Albums are in poor condition.

The albums were deteriorating and the photographs were removed. The order of the photographs in the albums has been retained.
