The Washington State Worm Growers Association formed in 1976 as a non-profit organization to provide opportunities for worm growers in Washington state to gather and share knowledge. In the newsletter, the organization describes itself as "A non-profit organization dedicated to an informed membership." The main association met in Lacey, Washington. There were several chapters throughout the state including the Evergreen Chapter, Eastern Washington Chapter, Inland Empire Chapter, Sno King Chapter, Sun Basin Chapter, Columbia Chapter, and Yakima Chapter.
