Frederick H. Saylor was a collector of Native American legends and a writer of articles for pioneer publications. He wrote and collected stories and ephemera regarding myths, legends, and traditions of native peoples of the Pacific Northwest and California.

The collection contains a manuscript, scrapbooks, correspondence, ephemera and mementos.
The first three volumes of this collection of scrapbooks contain a manuscript of 393 pages, typed, regarding legends of the Pacific Coast Indians since 1857. Chapters contain stories that describe places, people, beliefs, death, medicine, myths, animals, rituals, fears, and the environment. There is also a few pieces of loose correspondence, notes, clippings, and tearsheets interspersed throughout the first three volumes.
The fourth scrapbook contains personal ephemera and mementos of Saylor's, and also ephemera relating to Native American peoples and legends of the Pacific Northwest and California. Material includes photographs (some with captions) and many are of Native Americans, certificates, event tickets, flyers, newspaper clippings, maps, song lyrics, medals and buttons, and other mementos.
