Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Dr. Richard Bullington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1920. While living in Collingswood, New Jersey, Bullington was active in athletics in both junior and senior high school. He received recognition for his participation in track and field events. Bullington attended Rutgers University on scholarship where he lettered in both football and track. After graduating in 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Naval Air Corps from 1942-1945. Following World War II, Bullington taught school and received a Masters and Doctorate of Education from the University of Alabama.
From 1953-1957, Bullington served as Director in Training Analysis at Williams Air Force Base in Arizona. He became principal of Arcadia High School in Phoenix. While a professor of education at Arizona State University, in 1977 he was hired to be Executive Vice President of Boise State University, serving until 1987. His civic service included the Boise Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.
Richard Bullington died in 2002 in Boise, Idaho.
