The purpose of the expedition was to make the last film of the rivers before construction started on Flaming Gorge and Glen Canyon dams. Emsden accompanied the expedition from Green River, Wyoming, to Green River, Utah, where he left due to illness. The photos were obtained by Sarah Holcombe from Chris Emsden, son of Leslie, in 2007.
