Content DescriptionReturn to Top
The S. Marsena Foster papers (1902-1907) contain journals which are written in five notebooks. Four of these discuss the story of his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico City and the surrounding cities and country. Another contains the account of his trip to Mexico and the names and addresses of his correspondents.
The accounts give considerable detail as to the events and names of the people he is with and those he meets and the places they go. There are many interesting anecdotes and information concerning persons and customs, including informative descriptions of the religious practices of indigenous Mexican populations.
Accounts are also given in the journals of conferences, meetings, tracting, eating habits, sleeping quarters, and entertainments. They also tell of their successes and failures with their conversions and reconversions. Foster returned home to Salt Lake City, September 1904.
