Garnet, Montana, was founded as a mining town in the 1860s. Now a ghost town, Garnet is located in forested mountains about twenty miles east of Missoula, Montana.

The collection includes three letters, a post office notice, and blank invoices for or about Garnet, Montana residents, 1912-1938. The first two letters dated 1912 are addressed, respectively, to Mr. Pete Shipley and to Mr. John Hayes. The last, missing the first page, is not addressed or dated but is signed by Florence Wilmott. The postal notice is address to Postmaster, Garnet, Montana. The blank invoices are for a business in the name of S.E. Adams, Dealer in General Merchandise, Garnet, Montana.
