The didgeridoo is a wind instrument that was created by the indigenous peoples of northern Australia approximately 1500 years ago. The instrument, classified as a brass aerophone, can measure from 1 to 3 meters long. A longer didgeridoo produces a lower pitch, and a flared didgeridoo produces a higher pitch. Traditionally, northern Australian aborigines used the didgeridoo to company ceremonial dancing and singing, but today most didgeridoo playing is recreational.
