Seven pen and ink illustrations by Harold Cramer Smith, drawn to accompany the text of Fannie Adams Copper's "My Life as a Homesteader" in Oregon Historical Quarterly in 1981. The illustrations depict: two people looking at a catch of sturgeon and salmon; horses pulling a log; a man with a carriage outside Club Stables; a wagon axle and wheel, with arrows pointing to the linchpin; cougars in silhouette, looking down at a house below; a man on horseback, roping a deer; and a house with trees and a road or creek in front.
