This collection consists of materials related to the Washington Nuclear Waste Advisory Council and Washington Nuclear Waste Board, collected by Bill Funk and Royston Filby, both Washington State University faculty members who served on Council committees in the 1980s. Most of the materials are binders or packets prepared for regular meetings of the Washington State Nuclear Waste Board, collected by Filby and Funk during their service.

In the 1980s, Royston Filby, chair, of the Washington State University Chemistry Department, and Bill Funk, Professor of Civil Engineering and Director, Washington State Water Research Center, both served on committees associated with the Washington Nuclear Waste Board and the Washington Nuclear Advisory Council.
The Washington Nuclear Waste Board and Washington Nuclear Advisory Council operated under the Washington State Office of Energy during the 1980s.
