Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Jacklin Seed Company was founded in 1936 by Arden Jacklin and family in the Spokane Valley, Washington, where they developed pea and bean seeds. In 1977, the company moved its operations to Post Falls, Idaho, and began breeding Kentucky bluegrass seed. The Jacklin Seed Company has gone on to specialize in the research, breeding, and production of various turfgrass seeds. In 1997, the company was purchased by the J.R. Simplot Company.
Jacklin brothers and owner-executives of the Jacklin Seed Company, Doyle (1962 Agronomy), Don (1966 Agronomy), and Duane (1967 Agricultural Economics and the Honors College), all graduated from Washington State University. Since 2009, the family has sponsored the Jacklin Family Honors College Education Abroad Endowment at WSU.
