Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Seth Cable is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has been awarded two grants from the Jacobs Research Fund (2011, 2013). He received his MS in Formal Logic from the University of Amsterdam in 2002, and his PhD in Linguistics from MIT in 2007. His research focuses on semantics, syntax, and Na-Dené Languages (Tlingit).
Historical BackgroundReturn to Top
Na-Dené languages are a major language grouping of North America Indian languages, of which Tlingit is included. It is spoken from near the mouth of the Copper River down the coast of the Gulf of Alaska. Tlingit has been recognized as an official language of Alaska and various programs have been created for revitalization purposes.
