Historical NoteReturn to Top
Although this ledger (1908-1934) is untitled, a postcard inside the ledger indicates that it might have belonged to the family of Hazel Smith of Sunnyside, Washington. The ledger includes accounting for potato farming (presumably the family's primary source of income, and a number of individuals including C.C. York, Jim, McDonald, Fred Chambers, Clarence Arrowsmith, Albert Rockoff, Tracy Phelps, Kurt Reeves, Gruntir Millir, and A.C.Kirkwood. The ledger also includes entries for spud sorting, spud picking, outside breeding record, and times of crop planting. The Smith family appears to have managed the book keeping for their local church, the Outlook Church of Sunnyside Washington, which is detailed at the back of the ledger. Also included are loose sheets with advertisemenst for the Muir Potato Sorting Table, Oregon Hunting Laws, Yakima Label Savings Contest, and a news clipping titled "Hunt in Kaibab Forest."
