This collection of Birgitta Ingemanson's papers includes materials on Soviet and Russian Area Studies at Washington State University. Includes correspondence, course materials, funding files, event records, and a chronology and program history. There is also a file of Ingemanson's correspondence with Ukrainian poet Lyubov Sirota.

Birgitta Ingemanson (b. 1944) is a Swedish scholar on Russian culture, literature, and film studies. She was born in Stockholm, Sweden. She graduated from the University of Stockholm in 1967 before spending a year abroad at Leningrad State University, USSR, from 1968 to 1969. Ingemanson then traveled to the United States where she earned her MA and PhD from Princeton University in 1972 and 1975, respectively. She began working at Washington State University in 1977, teaching Russian language, literature, and culture. She began to develop collaborations with WSU faculty in other departments teaching Soviet and Russian studies, and together they created the Soviet (later renamed Russian) Area Studies Program. They also created an exchange program with several universities in Russia. Ingemanson retired from WSU in 2010.
