Accession No. 2581-005: Reva Twersky oral history interview, 2002Return to Top
Scope and Content: The interview covers Reva Twersky's recollections from the mid and late 1920's to about the mid-1940's. Reva talks about the area of Seattle where she lived on Jackson Street near 27th Avenue. Reva takes the reader and listener from that part of Jackson down toward First Avenue. She identifies various stores and businesses on or near Jackson and discusses how they related to the life of the Jewish community and the larger community of that area.
Reva focuses much of her account on her father, Mr. Ketzlach, who founded a department store named "Mr. Thrifty" located on 2311 Jackson. She describes her father's highly ethical business practices, his relationship with his customers, and the way he interacted with the larger competitors such as Masin's and Schain's department stores located nearby.
Digital Content/Other Formats: Listen to the audio recording and view the transcript of this interview on the Libraries Digital Collections site.
