Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Jennie Hartmann, a Norwegian American born in 1907 in Ålesund, Norway, was active in community organizations in Seattle, Washington until her death in 1993. Earlier in her life she worked as a telegraph operator for the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and then for the U.S. Air Force in Alaska.

Mrs. Hartmann wrote about her early life and her emigration from Norway to Canada and later to the U.S. She collected biographical information about other Norwegian-Americans in Seattle.
