Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Brain D. Compton received his Ph.D. in Botany from the University of British Columbia in 1993. His doctoral research focused on Heiltsuk, Haisla, and Oowekeeno ethnobotany. Since 1986, he has been involved in ethnobiological research and teaching among various First Nations of British Columbia and Indian Tribes of Washington State. He has developed and taught several college and university courses involving ethnobiological and related topics at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Northwest Indian College and other indigenous and private educational institutions of the Pacific Northwest.
