Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Shivkumar Sharma (1938-) is a composer and musician from Jammu, India. His father, singer Uma Dutt Sharma, taught him how to sing and play tabla when he was five years old. He started learning santoor at age thirteen and played his first concert in 1955 in Mumbai. He is credited with popularizing the santoor and is known for his albums of original compositions.
