Letters, 1847, 1862-1863.
One letter was written to his "sister in Christ," Jane Hurd, February 8, 1847 at Beaver Creek, Illinois. All other letters were written from the Western Theater from February 2, 1862-July 12, 1863. The first of the Civil War letters is written from Memphis, and subsequently from Pittsburg Landing (Shiloh), Tenn., and Vicksburg, Miss.
