Biographical Note
Laura Rebolloso is a dancer, poet, and a virtuoso performer on the leona, the largest and lowest pitched member of the jarana guitar family that is popular in the Veracruz region of Mexico. In 1992 she co-founded the ensemble Son de Madera, regarded today as one of the most important exponents of son jarocho and a champion of the community music celebration called fandango.

Son Jarocho: Laura Rebolloso (vocals, leona, jarana, and zapateado); with Martha Gonzales (vocals, cajon, chekere, zapateado), Alex Chadsey (piano), Juan Perez (bass), Quetzal Flores (jarana, guitar), Monica Rojas (cajon, zapateado), Eduardo Sierra (vocals, jarana), Shannon Dudley (steel pan, marimbol, quijada), Bartholomew Komoah (Djembe), Marisol Berrios-Miranda (guiro, vocals), Iris Viveros (zapateado), Teresa Bazan (zapateado), and various musicians and dancers from the Seattle Fandango Project.
Video recording by Laurel Sercombe (from back of the hall) on hard drive (Novia QC A2D2 hard drive recorder); audio mix from pair of KM-184 cardioid mics and P.A. feed from house sound.
