Historical NoteReturn to Top

Glenn Anthony May is a professor of history at the University of Oregon. His main focus has been on the Philippines. May's book Battle for Batangas: A Philippine Province at War is a study of the province of Batangas during the Phllippine-American War of 1899-1902. The book gives an account of what life was like for the soliders and civilians in Batangas, and challenges established scholarship by showing that the backbone of Philippine resistance came from political and economic elites rather than the peasantry. May's book was published by Yale University Press in 1991.
