Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Clamdiggers Association was founded in 1892 to supply the community of Lynden, Washington, with an annual clambake open to all who cared to join. In 1909, the group's membership was limited to only include individuals who settled in Washington Territory prior to statehood. Today, the Clamdiggers Association is a social club made up of the direct descendants of those early pioneers. The group's historian and collector, David Tremaine, is a descendant of two pioneer families who settled in Lynden in the 1870s and 1880s.
