The collection is centered around mining and geology in Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, and Wyoming and includes maps, reports, essays, articles, correspondence, charts, diagrams, and notes. Also included in the collection are some personal papers and class materials. The class materials are arranged by class title and then by subjects taught in those classes. For the most part, original titles given to materials by Welsh were kept.
