Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Jack Alexander, 1934-, graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College (now the University of Guelph) in 1960 with a DVM, a veterinary surgery degree, and a specialty in radiology. He joined the school’s faculty that year. In 1962, he came to Pullman on a one-year sabbatical to teach surgery, and stayed for 40 years.
He served as chair of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine and Surgery from 1972 to 1985 (now the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences). He was one of the first radiologists certified through the American College of Veterinary Radiology and went on to become the organization’s president. He established the nationally recognized veterinary radiology program at WSU. He was also president of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association and selected as a Veterinarian of the Year by the group’s Board of Directors.

This is an audio digital recording, a 62.7 mb mp3 file which is an edited 45 minute question and answer interview conducted with Dr. Jack Alexander in February of 2022 by the hospice which was taking care of him. No transcript has yet been made.
The interview focuses both on Dr. Alexander’s professional memories and accomplishments, and on his personal life.
