Historical NoteReturn to Top
Washington State Sportsmen's Council was founded in 1934. Its objectives are to protect and propagate wildlife, procure enactment of protective legislation, create and foster appropriate public sentiment, promote sportsmanlike methods in hunting and fishing, cooperate with like associations and agencies, keep politics out of Fish and Game Departments, foster education of youth in matters of conservation and good sportsmanship.

Resolutions in favor of, and campaigns for, conservation of natural resources. Main issues in the accession are Indian fishing rights, dam building issues, particularly on the Columbia River; water-quality standards for interstate waters and water pollution control laws.
