Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Bureau of Agriculture, Labor and Industry was formed in 1893. The Bureau was renamed in 1913 to the Department of Agriculture and Publicity (Labor and Industry became a seperate department). In 1921, the Department name was once again changed to Agriculture Labor and Industry. By 1951, the current name, Department of Agriculture, was established. The Division of Weights and Measures was created in 1939 from the Department of Weights and Measures, which was overseen by the Secretary of State. The Division was moved to the Department of Agriculture in 1939 and remained there until 1971. The Division of Horticulture was first established as the State Board of Horticulture in 1899. The Division was transferred to the Department of Agriculture in 1921 and remained there until it was eliminated in 1974.

These records consist of an inspector's record of inspection, a general ledger, cash books of scale testing fees for the Division of Weights and Measures as well as minutes, voucher records, and shipping and inspection records for the Division of Horticulture.
