Tape-recorded interview covering years 1890 to present, conducted by M. Kaplan & M. Katz on Nov. 7, 1974.
Mr. Zachary Loussac was born in Moscow, Russia, in 1882. He studied pharmacy at the New York College of Pharmacy, and in 1907 moved to Alaska. Mrs. Loussac discusses her husband's family life in Moscow; his career as a pharmacist in Iditarod, Juneau, and Anchorage, Alaska; and Loussac Foundation - an organization established by Mr. Loussac to found a public library for Anchorage. The interview also includes an account of Mr. Loussac's U.S.O. work during W.W.II, especially for Jewish soldiers; and activities of other Jewish families in Anchorage; and a description of the construction of the Alaska railroad.
