Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Pauline Kotz Zelikovsky was born in Ufa, Russia in 1901 and emigrated with her family to Harbin, Manchuria. She received her medical degree in Liege, Belgium. She returned from Liege to Harbin but soon moved to Shanghai where she had a general practice at the hospital. She was active in the Jewish community in Shanghai. Pauline married Michail A. Zelikovsky in 1931 and emigrated to Montreal, Canada with him in 1953, where she continued to practice medicine. She died in Piestany, Czechoslovakia in 1971.
Ida Zelikovsky Green Lassers (1906-1989) was a pianist, piano teacher and resident of Kirkland, Washington. She was born in Russia and emigrated to the Seattle area after living for extended periods in Harbin, Manchuria, Manila, Philippines and Vancouver, British Columbia. She is the mother of Abe Zelikovsky (1932-2009) and Esther Zelikovsky Robbins Hutton (1930-2006). Esther Hutton's memoir, Sojourn: A Family Saga (1997) describes the family's three years in a Japanese prison camp during World War II.
