Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Whitman College French Club (L'Alliance Francaise) was first formed in 1919 by a French exchange student. It was open only to those students who had studied at least first year French. The club gave a banquet celebrating its twentieth anniversary in 1939, and a member wrote a French-spoken Christmas play in December 1940. The club was disbanded in 1941, but was later revived by Dr. L.H. Bussard and Mademoiselle Paule Ravasee in 1945.
