contents: "Kanjincho" (the subscription scroll) is a dance drama with Nagauta accompaniment, adapted by Namiki Gohei from the Noh play "Ataka" in the 1830s. It is categorized in the "Kabuki Juhachiban" repertoire which refers to the 18 big spectacle Kabuki dramas assembled by Danjuro VII.

This tape is a recording of a broadcast (NHK TV-April 1988) of a performance done in January 1988 at the Kabuki-za theater in the East Ginza area of Tokyo. This is a different production from the one described in the program; the actors/musicians are different but the story, action, and music are the same.

The documentation includes four suggested points in the drama which could be isolated for class use.
