Sidney Nathan Weiner was born in 1920 in Spokane and later lived on Mercer Island. He graduated from Washington State College and worked at Boeing for 38 years. He has served in several Jewish organizations including the Washington State Association of Jewish Communities and Save All Ethiopian Jews.

Tape-recorded interview and transcript of Sidney Weiner's experience at Boeing Airplane Company and his work rescuing Ethiopian Jews. Also included is Weiner's bound memoir ("My Life"), as well as correspondence, agendas, minutes, and other materials documenting Weiner's participation in the Washington State Association of Jewish Communities, and files created and collected by Weiner pertaining to the history of Herzl Ner-Tamid.

Scope and Content: Tape recorded interview covering the years 1942-1983, taken on June 13, 2001; transcript Mr. Weiner talks about his 38 years at Boeing Airplane Company, which included work related to: B-17's, Air Force testing, Strategic Air Command, Boeing's supersonic program, AVAC, and hydrofoil testing. He also describes his work rescuing Ethiopian Jews and getting them safely to Israel.

Scope and Content: 1 bound memoir titled "My Life," in which Weiner recounts his family and personal history. Much of this memoir covers his 38 years working at Boeing, particularly his time as Boeing representative to the Strategic Air Command Headquarters where he worked closely with General Curtis LeMay. Also included are files created and collected by Weiner pertaining to the history of Herzl Ner-Tamid. These files include deeds and historical notes relating to properties owned by the congregation, Ha-Kol newsletters, a poster of Herzl's basketball team, news clippings and notes on the history of the congregation, and issues of the Herzlgram, the newsletter of Herzl Conservative congregation. Also included are some brochures and programs from the congregation.
