Historical NoteReturn to Top
There were two stores in Rockport, Summit County, Utah. The first one, owned by Mr. Seamons, opened in 1872 and used produce (eggs, butter, poultry, and grain) in exchange for merchandise. The produce was then taken to Park City and sold from door to door. The other store was opened and operated by Joshua Cossey who later sold to a Mr. Salisbury.

The Rockport General Store account book belonged to Mr. Salisbury and contains invoices, orders, and bills which have been pasted on the pages of the ledger. This is a record of merchandise ordered from 1902-1909. The orders were all placed by Elizabeth Salisbury. Among the firms listed on the orders are: A.H. Boxrud, Salt Lake City, Utah; Lambert Paper Co., Salt Lake City, Utah; B.H. Townsend Co. Drugs and Groceries, Salt Lake City, Utah; Coalville CO. Operative Mercantile Institution, Coalville, Utah; Clark Eldredge Co., Salt Lake City, Utah; Blythe Fargo Co., Park City, Utah; Z.C.M.I., Salt Lake City, Utah.
