Biographical NoteReturn to Top
John D. McLauchlan was a lawyer and photographer. Mr. McLauchlan was born in 1909 in Kankakee, Ill., and came to Seattle with his parents in 1920. His father was the Reverend John D. McLauchlan, the first dean of St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. McLauchlan attended Broadway High School, and earned his law degree from the University of Washington. In World War II, he served in Army counterintelligence. It was during that time that he met and married artist Ebba Rosena Rapp. McLauchlan also was a founder of the Seattle Photographic Society and spent 50 years as photographer for the Washington Bar News. He received the Washington State Bar Association's Award of Honor and Merit in 1985 for his work in immigration law. McLauchlan died on December 24, 1999.
