Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Sheehan Gallery was built in 1973 in an effort to support and reflect the Whitman College Liberal Arts program. Named after Whitman's ninth president, Donald H. Sheehan, the gallery was later expanded to emphasize Asian art. The expansion in mission began in 1987 when the college acquired the Davis Collection, and continued with the addition of a Japanese tearoom in 1999.
