Custodial History
Per note in collection: Francis families and Baker families were old acquaintances in Illinois for many years before [Francis] came to Oregon, which was in 1852. Letter was brought back to Oregon in 1905 from Nebraska by Mrs. S. C. Hollister, whose maiden name was Mary Augusta Baker. Samuel Allen Baker died in 1859, but the letter was saved by his mother and [given] to Mrs. Hollister in 1897.
