- The Judith Shannon Paine Papers date from 1978 through 1994. The bulk of the collection consists of personal and professional correspondence Paine received while editor of the small press magazines The Village Idiot and Delirium between 1987 and 1993. This correspondence often includes poetry and short story manuscripts, artwork, and chapbooks or literary magazines. The collection contains Paine's notebooks logging all submissions she received during this time. Additionally the collection includes some of Paine's own poetry as well as materials relating to her work as a substitute teacher, and a community correspondent for the Shoshone County News Press.

Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Judith Shannon Paine is a writer, editor and publisher who settled in Harrison, Idaho in the mid-1980s with husband Richard, daughter Nancy and son Shawn.
In 1987 Paine's poetry chapbook The Lizard King was published by the Harrison-based imprint Mother of Ashes Press established by Joe M. Singer. She subsequently became editor of Singer's irregularly published literary magazine, The Village Idiot.
Paine founded her own literary magazine, Delirium, in association with Muggwart Press of Riverside, California in 1989 and remained editor of the publication until a fire stopped production in 1991.
Judith Paine was awarded the World of Poetry Press' Golden Poet award in 1985.
