Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Eleanor and George Wheeler were Americans who lived in Prague from 1947 - 1961. George Wheeler was an economist who had worked for the U.S. government, but decided to live and work in Czechoslovakia for political reasons. Eleanor worked for the Religious News Service and later for the Ministry of Information in Prague. George Wheeler published "The Human Face of Socialism: The Political Economy of Change in Czechoslovakia" in 1973.
