Scope and Content: Correspondence, reports, newsletters, supporting files, maps; 1967-1975.

These records, which were begun by Brock Evans (see Brock Evans Papers) and continued by Doug Scott (1973-), primarily reflect the activities of the office during Evans' time (1968-72). This Sierra Club, Northwest Office record group begins with the tenure of Doug Scott as Northwest representative of the Sierra Club.

The papers have been arranged in four groups - 1) Issues Related to Geographical Areas, 2) Subject Series, 3) Miscellaneous Papers, and 4) the William A. (Bill) Conway Subgroup (Papers belonging to William Conway, a consulting forester). This arrangement, corresponding both to the ·original order of the papers and to the arrangement of the papers in the Brock M. Evans Papers, results in some diffusion of materials. They include primarily correspondence, reports and printed materials.

Scope and Content: Correspondence, organizational records, ephemera, writings; 1973-1979 (bulk 1975-1977)

Records generated by Doug Scott as Northwest Representative of the Sierra Club and the Federation of Western Outdoor Clubs, July 1973-1979. Certain files which pre-date Scott's term of office were begun by Brock Evans. This installment contains documentation of primarily 5 issues: Hell's Canyon National Recreation Area legislation, Alpine Lakes Wilderness legislation, the Eastern Wilderness, ca. 1972-1974, the Endangered American Wilderness Act of 1978, and Idaho Timber Issues. The Idaho Timber Issues "subgroup" has been further subdivided into four National Forest sub-subgroups. Other material has been arranged by state.

The remaining material was received in several boxes labeled "Miscellaneous Important" and "Miscellaneous Unimportant". The "unimportant" boxes were weeded by two-thirds of their original volume. No attempt was made to organize this miscellaneous material by specific issue; instead most of the material was grouped by state then sorted into record series for each state. Some of the records, however, concern national issues and cannot be filed by specific state. This national level material is further divided into national Wilderness Issues (land use, wilderness designation, etc.). The residue has been arranged as Miscellaneous Issues of National Scope. All three national divisions are treated as subgroups, i.e., material within each division is arranged by record series. Dates for all records, state and national are ca. 1972-79.

The remaining records concern organizational matters of the Sierra Club, and include correspondence, minutes, memoranda, financial records and policy information.
