Accession No. 2349-001: Edward Baronsky oral history interview, circa 1916-1974Return to Top
Scope and Content: Tape recorded interview, by Meta Kaplan and Jeanette Schrieber, August 8, 1974. Describes at length the life style, livelihood and religious practice of Jews in the small towns of Siberia, pre-WWI. Describes the first year of life in Siberia during the Red-White war after World War I. Reminiscences about Harbin, Vladivostok, Yokohowa,and its HIAS house. He speaks of the livelihood of his shochet-mochel father, and of Mayer Brothers Jewelers, Baronsky's first employer.
Also includes legal documents, ca. 1916-1917.
